David Dinner
I am a retired periodontist, living on Kaua’i for twenty five years, now practicing craniosacral bodywork focused mainly on trauma, abuse, spirituality, and other areas of deep healing. A switch in professions after I arrived on Kaua’i coincided with my vision of making each day a creative experience. So I spend a part of my days writing novels, poetry, and painting, along with playing tennis and swimming. I’m one of the original founders of the Kauai Writers Conference, still very involved. A few years ago, while awaiting a breakthrough in the forever search for an agent for my completed novel, I began weekly coffee meetings with several other writers, and, in order to have something to read to the others, I began to write some poems. Fast as a fish, I was hooked. Now I cannot stop. Poetry satisfies my inability to make sense of anything. I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, but until now, not in a way that anyone responsible for those kinds of decisions would be willing to waste a thimbleful of ink on. I’m honored to have my first publication with Latitudes, and I promise I will keep writing until publication becomes habitual.
