Virginia Fortner, following an urge to express herself since she began to scribble, has published essays, poetry, fiction, and children’s stories, and one dissertation. She met with Montana Writers after being part of Kansas City Writers for many years. Now she puts pen to paper with Hawi, Hawaii, to write essays, articles, memoirs, poems, and fiction. Kohala chuckles over her 10-minute plays. After publishing At the Edge, a novel set in Montana, Virginia co-wrote A Design of His Own, a surfboard shaper’s adventurous biography. Family has received Virginia's memoirs revisiting “49ers" as her family pulled a trailer house across 26 states. Wanderlust took her to teach ESL in China, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia. Her recent mixed genre fiction, China Conundrum, braids a travelog, teaching adventures, political contrasts, with uncertain romance, set between 2003-2006.
